SHAMROCK ROVERS’ GOALKEEPER Gavin Bazunu has drawn huge praise for his performance against Cork City last week, including a brilliant save from a Kieran Sadlier penalty.
He impressed throughout the game and helped his side hold Cork City to a goalless draw which saw the home side drop points at home for the first time this season.
The teen star has yet to concede a goal since being promoted to the Hoops’ starting line-up and the clash with Cork City was the Dubliner’s fourth consecutive league appearance.
His performances have reportedly attracted interest from Liverpool, while his display against Cork drew praise from pundits at home in Ireland.

“There was 3,700 at the game so he wasn’t playing at an empty stadium,” Cork City legend Dave Barry remarked on RTÉ’s Soccer Republic.
“For Shamrock Rovers to have a 16-year-old in goals… we all know their problems in goalkeeping but this boy was unbelievable on the night.”
Speaking of Bazunu’s effort to deny Sadlier from the penalty spot, Barry added:
“He was exceptional. Kieran Sadlier has scored five penalties up coming up to this and that was an excellent penalty.
I think this boy did his homework on Sadlier [from] reading in the newspapers. He kind of knew which side he was going to. All through the night coming for balls [he had] good hands.
“[He] really dictated his box and for a 16-year-old, I would like to see him stay here for his own career and play European football.
“Alan Mannus was on the bench as well so, with his experience and that young boy, the world is his oyster really.”
